Privacy Policy

Glub is a fishing catch log for iPhone. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your catches stay on your device. Glub has no accounts and no sign-in, and we run no server of our own. Two things do leave your phone: anonymous usage statistics (section 5), and — only if you ask for it and agree first — a single photo sent for AI species identification (section 6).
1. What Glub stores, and where
Everything you enter — photos of your catches, species, weight, length, lure, technique, notes, ratings, dates and locations — is saved locally on your iPhone. None of it is uploaded to us, because there is nothing to upload it to. We operate no servers and hold no copy of your catch log.
2. iCloud backup
Glub can back up your catch log to your own iCloud account, and restore from it. This only happens when you choose it in Settings. The backup lives in your private iCloud storage under your Apple Account; it is governed by Apple's terms, and we cannot read it.

Glub does not use your photo library to browse or scan your photos. Choosing an existing photo uses Apple's system picker, which hands the app only the single image you selected.
4. Photo processing
When Glub separates a fish from its background to make a sticker, that work is done entirely on your device using Apple's on-device Vision framework. Nothing is uploaded for it, and it happens to every photo you add.
The one case where a photo does leave your device is AI species identification, which never happens on its own — you have to ask for it, and agree to it first. It is described in full in section 6.
5. Usage statistics
Glub uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used — how many people open it, how long a session lasts, which screens get reached, whether a purchase went through. This tells us where the app is confusing or broken. It is about how the app is used, never what you logged.
Your catches, photos, notes, ratings, measurements and fishing spots are never sent to Firebase or anywhere else. They stay on your device.
What Firebase does receive:
- A random app-instance identifier that Google generates for this installation — not your name, email or Apple Account.
- Device model, iOS version and app version.
- Your app language, and an approximate country or region derived from your IP address.
- Anonymous events such as app opened, screen viewed, purchase completed.
Google processes this on our behalf; their handling is described in Firebase's privacy documentation. Glub has no accounts, so none of it is linked to an identity, and we neither sell it nor share it with anyone else. Deleting the app ends the collection and discards the identifier.
6. AI species identification
Glub can suggest the species of a fish from its photo. This is optional and opt-in: it runs only when you tap the AI button, and only after you have read and agreed to a disclosure the first time. Every catch can still be logged by picking a species from the built-in list or typing the name, with no photo sent anywhere.
When you use it, this is sent:
- The photograph of that one catch — no other photo from your library.
- Your app language, so the species is named in it.
- A random identifier generated for your installation, used only to count requests and stop abuse. It is not your name, your Apple Account, or your device's own identifier.
Your fishing spots, locations, notes, measurements, ratings and catch history are never sent. Neither is any other photo on your phone.
The photo is passed through OpenRouter to one of these AI services: Google Gemini, OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, Alibaba Qwen, Meta Llama, Mistral or DeepSeek. Which one handles a given request is chosen automatically for accuracy and availability, and the set may change over time. The photo is used to answer that one request and is not used to train these models. We do not keep a copy.
You can withdraw your agreement at any time in Settings. After that, no photo is sent for identification again unless you agree anew.
7. Purchases
Glub PRO is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Payment is handled by Apple; we never see your card details. Apple tells the app only whether a purchase is active. We use RevenueCat to check that status with Apple; it receives an anonymous purchase identifier, never your payment information.
8. Children
Glub is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app asks for no name, email or account, and the usage statistics in section 5 are anonymous and not used to build a profile of anyone.
9. Your rights
Because your catch log lives on your device, you are already in control of it. Settings contains an Erase all data action that permanently deletes every catch, photo and record from the device. Deleting the app removes its data with it, and stops the usage statistics described in section 5. An iCloud backup you made is removed through your device's iCloud storage settings.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
